Friends of the Fossil Library is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization supporting the Fossil Public Library operations, services, and special programs.
The Board of Directors meets monthly at the library and anyone in the community is welcome to attend. An Annual Meeting is held each year inviting library users and other community members to participate.

How we support the library
Community Outreach EventsFriends of the Fossil Library Board and Volunteers participate in community events to share information about the library and promote special programs. These include: The Wheeler County Fair & Rodeo Parade, Fair Exhibit Booth, Fossil Friday street fair, Holiday Light Festival, Halloween Trunk or Treat.

Grant SeekingFriends of the Fossil Library supports the library each year through grant seeking. In 2022-23 efforts successfully secured over $50,000 in grants to support: Operations, personnel, computer access programs, youth programs.
Grants in 2024 include $20,000 operating grant through the Oregon Community Foundation and funding for Summer Reading Programs. |
Fundraising ActivitiesFriends of the Fossil Library host events and participate in direct fundraising activities. These include hosting the Fossil Holiday Bazaar, Sees Candy Sales, and an annual year-end direct appeal to library patrons and the community.
